Eden's eyes narrowed as Zane went about spilling questions all over the place, speaking of things he plainly had no clue about and otherwise acting very much the part of a bewildered bystander who had just witnessed an otherworldly event that had no bystander-suitable explanation. A very irritating, very bewildered bystander. And Eden had little to no patience with irritating people who happened to suffer from a severe case of diarrhea from the mouth.
...Even so, she preferred that he stay an irritating, bewildered bystander, because the other option was too troubling to consider. Zamy had evidently already seen evidence of this "other option" in him; when the other woman spoke of "no more than two dozen," Eden knew exactly what was on her mind. And she didn't like it one bit.
What did this mean?
Maybe it was only temporary. Perhaps fragments of the force had escaped and was lingering on the humans. That could mean anything at all. "Radioactive" magic. It could even be harmless; the magic currently residing in those humans could very well just fade away over time. Harmless. Or, of course, they could be the magical equivalent of malignant tumors that heralded the doom of their hosts, but that was just a worse-case scenario. Worse case, because that was certainly not the worst case scenario Eden could think up.
"First of all, it's rude to point." She dusted off her jeans and straightened her clothes, all the while staring at Zane. "Second, I don't know what you're talking about. Go sell that story to someone who cares." Better to try to convince the man that he had been imagining things all along, hallucinations induced by excessive stress and other related factors. Because Eden sure wasn't going to concur with his version of the events that had just unfolded. "Third, go get yourself checked out. You must be having problems."
She cast her eyes about and let her senses roam as well, taking a head count of all the people newly infused with magic in the vicinity. The other mage was right; there were no more than two dozen, maybe a couple more or less. The rest of the visible population remained the way they were, as far as Eden could tell, though they were a good deal more confused than they were before the incident with the wave of magic threatening to wipe out every iota of life on Earth. Understandably.
But they could just go along with their daily lives instead of standing around like idiots, doing nothing.
"In fact, I'm going to go get checked out, too," Eden said slowly as something dawned on her. "Right now. I think...we all should." She glanced at Zamy only briefly, unwilling to make her attempt at furtiveness obvious, but really, she hoped the other mage would get her point. Because if she just happened to get detained by police and questioned thoroughly, Eden might be labeled as an "accomplice."
An event like this was probably already uploaded to YouTube by now. She had to split before the cops got down here, or else there'd be some 'splainin' to do. If the other mage was smart, she'd do the same.

Zane sighed, looking between the two women with a bored gaze. The 'Frantic Bystander' never got any information. He looked between the two, a slight grin coming to his face as he brought his hands together in a slow clap. "Commendable. Trying to keep your little secrets." He started, his voice obviously calmer than it had been just a couple seconds ago. "But there's an old adage that comes to mind. 'You can't con the con-man.' I made my living lying to people and your friend here lends to obviousness of your ploy." He said, gesturing to Zamy, who was pretty obviously lying...
Zane looked between the two, then around the area once more. "Now. Let's try this one more time." He started, looking between the two. "Tell me what's going on, because it's obvious you know something you're not telling me." As he spoke, he could feel... something. It seemed to radiate from the pit of his stomach until he stopped talking, leaving him a bit more tired than he had been just a few seconds ago. He rubbed his eyes, fighting off the fatigue once more, hoping the two would give him the answers he seeks.

Zamy took another drink of her wine trying to finish it as quickly as she could. This other mage had a point, best to take a look around town to see who else this had effected. She then downed the last of her drink and put the money on the table to pay for the drink, grabbed her satchel and pulled out her phone. She then tried to give Seger a call, it rang a few times but he didn't seem to answer.
She was about to leave a voice mail but then she heard that red haired man trying to talk to her, she didn't catch all of it, but it was as she heard the word "me" she took a look at the man. She sensed a slight magical shift, and saw as some residual magic emanated from the mans mouth. She felt a tinge in her own personality for just a moment but shrugged it off.
She then ignored the red haired business man and walked off into the crowd. No need to stick around, when there's a mystery to solve, on top of that Seger to find. As she walked through the streets she saw a few more people either who've either fallen asleep or are stumbling to stay awake. Zamy flipped open her phone and tried to give Seger a call once more.

Eden hadn't been angry before now. She had been irritated, yes, and dangerously close to afflicting the man-of-too-many-questions with whatever illness she could cook up with what remained of her power - which was, admittedly, reduced sadly to minimal levels, which meant that she wasn't going to be casting any unnecessary spells any time soon even though she wasn't going to admit it - and so on, but she hadn't been angry. But the man had fixed that awfully quick.
Her eyes zeroed in on those of the man's, conveying as much fury as any pair of eyeballs possibly could. She wasn't going to make a scene here in the middle of Times Square, because that was something she couldn't risk with authorities probably already on their way here if someone had called to report a mysterious purple, blue, and red wall springing up in the middle of the city.
Why couldn't the woman have practiced some subtlety? It wasn't a dead art. Especially nowadays, when mages were a dying breed and needed to protect themselves from passionate opposers who equated strange abilities with death-deserving bull's eye targets. Passionate opposers who could have been swimming along with the rest of the population of Manhattan on these very sidewalks.
Yeah, she needed to split. But there was something she had to take care of first.
"Don't you ever try your tricks on me," Eden snarled at the man. Her voice was dripping with venomous wrath, but the volume of her voice was low and confined to the ears of the man who had just attempted to manipulate her according to his own wishes. He had absorbed the foreign magic into his body not several minutes ago, and he was already trying to exercise some kind of power over her. She didn't like that. She wasn't sure what the extent of his abilities were, and even whether he had had it all along (and simply hidden it until now), but she did know that he had just attempted to compel her to spill her guts via some power transferred by his voice.
Yeah, she didn't like that.
"I don't have time for this - for you," she continued, her hackles raised and eyes boring into him, "but do that again and I won't just stand there and take it."
There. Fair warning.
She whipped around and headed off in another direction, letting her feet take here where they may. She just needed to escape - the scene and everyone in it, including that man.
Things were taking a turn for the worse, she thought. And she didn't know how much worse it was going to get.
Time would tell.
