Name: Valentine Moss
Nicknames: Val.
Age: 19
Height: 5' 1"
Weight: 105
Gender: Female
Race: Sorcerer-- Bard
Appearance: Val has a small, slim body type that doesn't support much muscle at all. She's wiry at best, and not built for endurance or strength. Though agile and with good reflexes, she doesn't have much going for her physically. Her most prominent feature by far is her blazing red hair. It's long, thick, and quite hard to ignore. In second place are her freckles, which decorate almost every inch of her face. Otherwise, her features are rather soft. She has blueish-gray eyes that contrast to her hair rather harshly. Though she quite likes her hair, she doesn't like people constantly commenting on and touching it, so it's often either tied up or covered with a hat.
Personality: Though she's friendly, talkative, and quite empathetic, Val remains fairly emotionally distant from others. She likes people well enough, can charm others and make friends easily, and has a good sense of humor, but is nevertheless, introverted. She prefers being alone with her music to large groups, and very rarely trusts people despite how long she's known them or how much she likes them. Though not shy, she's rather reserved and it's not often that she really "cuts loose". Val tends towards the blunt side even though she has consideration for others' feelings; she simply can't lie well. The only thing that Val is really too attached to is her instruments and music.
Fears: Thunder and lightning, needles, dying.
Quirks: Val tends to incorporate music into everything; she walks to a beat, is constantly tapping her fingers or humming, and sometimes talks as if she's reading a poem.
Background: Val was born in Georgia, 1991. She was always a bit distant from most kids, even though she had plenty of friends. Though she was born to two regular humans, she had a latent ability as a bard and was always very musically inclined. She spent hours at a time in the local music shops, playing every instrument they had until she'd mastered them all. Around sixteen, she began singing along to the simple little songs she wrote, and her magical abilities began to show; it was obviously more than talent at that point. She's a self-taught bard, so her technique is rather different than that of a classically trained bard.
Her family was the very prim and proper type, all rules and social niceties. Though Val went along with it all uncomplainingly, inside, she was absolutely screaming to get out. She left on her eighteenth birthday, and has spent all her time since then hitchhiking around the country and playing for money whenever she needs it. It's an easy life, but lately she's become tired of the humdrum of it all.
Abilities: Since Val is self-taught, she's quite versatile; in stead of using set songs, she can improvise ones. Though they aren't as effective, it's a useful ability.
She carries around a big bag, which contains a ukulele, a small four-string banjo, a harmonica, and a tambourine. She also uses her voice, which is probably her most effective instrument.
