Name: Chandra Diane Sorbetto.
Age: Twenty-nine. (born 24 September, 1982)
Height: Five foot one.
Weight: 115 lbs.
Gender: Female.
Race: Sorceress (Bard).
Appearance:
Chandra has pale blond hair, which is almost always loose. She's fair skinned, and burns heavily. Her eyes are green. She usually wears something similar to the outfit depicted above. She finds pockets incredibly useful and always wears clothing with them when possible.
Personality: Chandra is a no-nonsense sort of person. She has a tendency to be blunt, which is usually seen as rudeness by others. She gets snappy when irritated, and gets irritated fairly quickly in difficult situations. She doesn't like to use her skills for anything that doesn't downright require them. Chandra has a genuine love of performing, and tends to express emotion best when playing. This can be wonderful or terrifying, depending on her mood.
Background: Chandra Sorbetto was born in a suburb in Ohio, although she has moved several times since. Her parents were both bards, her father a singer and her mother a pianist. Since her father traveled often, her mother took control of Chandra's musical education. She taught her daughter piano until Chandra signed up for band in fourth grade. She then played trombone in band for four years, although she never quite mastered it. While in ninth grade, she ditched trombone and learned how to play the viola, which eventually became her specialty. At one point, when she was in eleventh grade, her parents were in a car accident on the way to one of her recitals, and they died from their injuries. Chandra then moved in with her father's sister, who was a fellow bard and taught her most of the actual magic that she knows. After college, she moved into her own residence and gave piano lessons before finally joining the local symphony orchestra. She worked there for about five and a half years with minimal mishaps. A few months ago, the pent up magic within her broke loose during a performance, injuring some of the other performers, leaving Chandra so drained she nearly died. It was never traced directly to her, but she left the orchestra and became more careful about how she used or did not use her magic. Since then, Chandra has been traveling and trying to find somewhere to settle down where she's less likely to get in trouble or hurt anyone.
Roleplay Sample: Chandra stared at the woman blankly. "Ma'am, I am a violist." she stated flatly. "This is a flute choir. I don't know flute. I'm sorry, but I can't help you." The woman began trying to make Chandra pity her and the one-person-short flute choir, but it only served to irritate her more. "Look, I can provide accompaniment on my viola if you want." As the woman accepted eagerly, Chandra sighed with annoyance. She hadn't meant to be performing, she had just come to watch. It turned out that to perform some of the pieces that they had selected for the concert, they needed a certain number of flautists, and were currently one short. One of the performers had seen Chandra's viola case and requested assistance from her. At least she had managed to convince her that it would be better for everyone if she used her viola. About to open the case holding her precious instrument, Chandra was distracted by a tap on the shoulder. It was the woman again. She said nothing, but shoved a flute into Chandra's hands before the bard could react. A scowl settled onto her face as she realized what the woman expected her to do.
Other (Abilities, etc): Chandra's specialty is with the viola, and her magic is strongest when using one. She also knows trombone and piano, although she doesn't own either of them. She has had some voice training, but is nowhere near as skilled with singing as she is with instruments. She can't do much magic well with her voice anyway, so she doesn't use it unless she has no other option.
Chandra's overall skill with magic is fairly average, but she is better than most at controlling it so that it only works when she wants it to. Since she is used to spending long periods of time between spells, it tends to be a little stronger than normal when she first starts a spell. The downside is that the pent up magic can break loose and cause havoc, and this has nearly killed her before. No matter how powerful she is, her habit of depicting her emotions in music usually makes for an impressive performance.
She has some simple songs and melodies memorized, and knows parts from larger works that she played when in the orchestra. Chandra likes to keep a small notebook with handwritten sheet music of her favorite songs in her pocket.
