Name:Ilayda
Age:246 years, she's a juvenile as far as elementals go.
Height:5'5"
Weight:137 pounds
Gender:Female
Race:Water Elemental
Appearance:
Human:
Personality: Ilayda had typical water elemental tendencies, as far as personality goes. When she gets into a funk, she stays in that funk for a long time, whether it be sadness, anger, happiness, or otherwise. Ilayda, unlike some other water elementals, gets into a funk quite easily, with skill like that of an over dramatic preteen. She is quite literally ruled by her emotions. She is irrational and irresponsible with her power. If you do something to anger her, you're in for a fight, no matter if you're her best friend or even her mother.
Emotions aside, Ilayda always appreciates pretty, glittery things. She is frivolous with any money that comes her way, spending it on anything that may catch her eye. She's enjoyed fashion and the like for all 246 years that she's been alive. her quirks include sometimes forgetting what year it is and speaking in the wrong dialect, calling people by the wrong name just because she can, and seeking thrills any way she can whether it be roller coasters or picking a fight with someone much stronger than herself.
Background: Born in 1764 in an obscure Caribbean island that had yet to get a European name. Nothing happened in her life until pirates came to their island to stash their loot. When the pirates came, her parents were intelligent enough to disappear from the pirates. Ilayda however, got curious about the strange men on her island. While in her human form, she went to their ship and stowed away. She was discovered halfway through the Atlantic when she was caught in the galley stealing some bread. The men were at first amused to see a teenage girl on the ship in the first place, dressed in some stolen clothes of one of their comrades. The comrade, thank the lord, had another outfit. After the amusement wore off however, the men realized they were lonely and hadn't seen anything that resembled a woman in a long while. They tried to take advantage of her with force, but they didn't get very far. She shifted forms and, too put it frankly, kicked their asses. No one died, but the pirates respected her from then on and she became one of the crew. They weren't too concerned with the fact that she had changed from a teenage girl to a being made of water, they had always been superstitious.
After she did her stay with the pirates (it had to be at least 60 years) she made her way to the New World which was still in the beginnings of its life as a country. She stayed there until the present, holding any job that would pay a decent amount at the time. Although she was a woman, so at times she had to delve into the darker side of society. She still looks like a woman in her early 20's and she still holds some of her pirate tenacity and her acceptance of human vices.
Roleplay Sample: Staring at the peaceful river Ilayda's blue eyes glowed with envy. Peaceful was something her life could never achieve; balance was completely out of the question. From the moment she had been born it had been chaos brought about by her own emotions. She knew it, and everybody around her knew it.
The bracelet on her wrist sparkled with anticipation. The thing had been purchased last week after Ilayda had spotted it in the window of an antiques emporium. She simply couldn't resist the way it glittered, and there had gone the rest of her savings. Thing always seemed to go that way for Ilayda, it was a wonder how she always seemed to have money for the rent with the amount of trinkets she acquired. Well, not so much a wonder, because Ilayda knew how she made the money up. But, such things were not things of polite discussion, and she'd leave it at that.
A few drops of water jumped out of the water at this thought, and came to meet her. They kissed her on the cheek and floated around her hands. They cheerily danced around each other as water so often did when not complicated with human emotions.
She wondered briefly if she was distantly related to these small beings animated by her touch. The elementals, at one time, must have been one with the rest of the planet. But, like everything else, they evolved to become more unholy and black. That was her personal theory anyway.
Human society wasn't good for her, Ilayda thought darkly. Ever since those dirty pirates. Well, they turned out to be big teddy bears after she almost killed all of them. That was something. Humans nowadays were bigger crooks that the worst of them back then. The whole human race was stuck in a downward spiral and they didn't even know it. Ilayda was stuck with it, she thought pensively, letting the water drops join the bigger picture of the river again.
Other (Abilities, etc): Ability to manipulate water in any form (solid, liquid, gas). Ability to switch forms between her natural form and her human form. When in her human form she's about as powerful as the average gifted human, in her natural form she's quite a bit more dangerous.
