Name: Brendan Cottrell
Age: 17
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 145 lbs
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: In typical teenager fashion, Brendan believes himself to be far more intelligent than he actually is. That's not to say that he's not bright, but in his view his teachers are morons, his parents don't understand anything, and most adults should just step aside. Brendan knows how everything works, and if only he were in charge, things would be running much more smoothly.
Just like 90% of boys his age.
All in all, Brendan's just a cocky 17-year-old with no real proof to back up his claims. His dream is to become rich and famous, though he isn't sure how he's going to do it yet. But rest assured, one day he'll have a penthouse overlooking New York City, with thousands of fans anxoius to catch a glimpse of him.
Someday.
Background: Brendan was born and raised in Manhattan. His mother left before he can remember, but he feels his single father did a good enough job raising him. He figures it was probably harder on his dad; his dad can actually remember her. Rather than be bothered by losing his mom, Brendan decided to do his best to make his dad proud.
From an early age, Brendan wanted to be just like his dad. He picked up martial arts at an early age, though he was more interested in getting smarter than getting stronger.
Over the years, Brendan saw more and more how the loss of his mother affected his dad, and as a result he learned to keep a distance between himself and others. He maintained a more personable facade to keep his friends satisfied, but on the inside he wasn't really attached to any of them. He was more interested in learning and practicing a few select arts than getting popular. He went through one practice after another, searching for some way to get rich without having to work hard. He's read up on everything from pyramid schemes to card counting to robberies, actually considering robbing a convenience store or two before deciding the risk wasn't worth the reward.
This is where Brendan stands now. He's looking for a way to get the things he wants in life without having to waste time working for them, a mix of greed and laziness. With the powers he's about to get, he'll find that this problem will solve itself.
Roleplay Sample: N/A
Abilities: "Mental Illusions"
Brendan has the ability to override a person's senses, altering their perception to cast illusions on their sight, hearing, and so on. The five basic senses are the easiest, followed by balance, and then other minor senses. Affecting multiple senses at once is more difficult, as is creating more demanding illusions that change more of the normal sensory information. (Adding a small image to someone's vision is easier than adding a large image or changing it entirely.) In order for his ability to work at all, he must be able to see at least some of the person's body.
