8/2/2012 5:00 PM Queens
It had been a slow day. But it was always a slow day at work. However, today was especially slow. It was payday, and Friday all at once. Karrin glared at the clock, as if it were the fault of one single clock that time was dragging on. She couldn't help it, not only were all the bills paid for the month, meaning that this entire paycheck could go to whatever she wanted it to, But she was off the next two days. She returned to washing dishes for what seemed like an hour, and glanced back up again. The clock read 5:15. "Sweet baby Jesus, would you hurry up!?"
A passing co-worker stopped in her tracks. "Excuse me?" The redhead turned to the voice, smiling apologetically, "Sorry, talking to myself. Err, the clock more specifically. Whichever suits you."
The girl, whom was one of those kinda-sorta friends that she would never associate with outside work, looked away, probably making some sort of oh-my-god-that-chick-is-so-friggen-weird face, and continued on her way. Karrin replied to the face that her co-worker may or may not have made with a polite middle finger, and looked back at the clock.
5:20 p.m. "Close enough!" She tossed the few remaining dirty dishes into the water briefly before transitioning them over to the drying rack and pulling out the drain plug, ripped off her apron and proceeded to power walk into the office to clock out and collect her recompense for returning to this hell hole each day.
By 6:30 she was in her civilian clothes, had her check cashed, and was making her way to Wal-mart in her little white Ford Escort that was quickly on it's way to being a giant pile of human excrement.

Octavia was at one of her recitals. Zane was meeting with another friends. Vinyl had the night off, and had no one to share it with. She sighed out of boredom as the bass from her music thudded through her headphones. Her hair bounced as she bobbed her head lightly with the beat, losing herself in thought.
Having a day alone could do her good, it will give her time to think. Think about work, her life, everything.
She had recovered from her addiction fairly well, her health still in a slightly lacking state. She was thin, frail. She knew it, but there was nothing she could do about it, she would just have to wait until her body decided it was time to return to a healthy size. She had met Zane, who at first gave her an off feeling because of the suite he wore into a dance club, but he turned out to be a pretty cool person, and the two were quickly becoming close. 'Her' Club was doing well, when she had started it was a pretty empty club, not very well known, but within a few months, they've been getting more and more customers.
Vinyl paused, looking around for a few moments. She blinked behind her sunglasses and pulled her headphones from her head. She looked at a passerby. "Hey, Where... Where the hell am I?" she asked, knowing she wasn't anywhere near where she usually walked in Brooklyn.
The man paused, raising an eyebrow. "You're at Wal-Mart, woman... What's wrong with you?" Vinyl looked at the man with a sigh. "What part of the city, dammit..." She asked. "Queens..." The man started to walk off "Crazy people..."
Vinyls eyes widened slightly. Queens. She was pretty sure that was quite a walk from Brooklyn. Was she really walking for four hours? She sighed, looking toward the building in front of her. Large white lettering pointedly displaying 'Wal Mart' (Always low prices. ALWAYS.) The slogan yelled in her mind. She walked over to one of the benches and sat down, already trying to plan her trip back, a few people looking at her Short, Electric Blue hair with odd looks.

"Ugh Fuck my life!" The car sputtered to a stop, backfiring twice and causing a few passers-by to dive out of the way. "It's not a gun noobs it's just a shitty car." She muttered, trying to no avail to start it back up. After a few more tries, she yanked the key from the ignition and plopped backward into the seat, sighing. "At least we made it to the parking lot." She slapped it into neutral and got out of the car, slamming the door hard enough to give the window a good rattle. In a stroke of luck she was a mere 5 feet from an open parking space, However, as small a vehicle as it was, she couldn't move the thing on her own, which meant having to ask the super-friendly civilians of the meanest town on Earth for assistance.
Someone in a Tan Buick behind her honked, no doubt wanting her parking spot. She waved them off, unless they would get out of the car and help her push her hunk of metal with wheels halfway across the lot to a new one, they were just SOL.
"Hey! Hey sir!" There went one potential candidate, "Hey, uh excuse me, My car broke down could you-" "Piss off ginger!"
Karrin began grinding her teeth. She might as well just leave the damn thing here and go home. A tow truck alone would take her whole meager paycheck just to get the thing hauled home, and as far as getting it repaired.. "Kids, today we'll be reading the book How to fail at life, a tragedy by Karrin Miller." She sighed and leaned against the side of the car, still in neutral. "Why did I ever stay in this hellhole?..."
A flash of blue caught her eye, and not just any blue, it was a HEY-LOOK-AT-ME-HERE-I-AM blue. The blue belonged to a girl, to her hair specifically, and it seemed to Karrin that she was asking some guy for something. Her day may have just gotten better, if this chick needed assistance, she could probably get a return favor.
Immediately she started jogging toward her, and as she got closer her heart sank back down. This chick was skinny, like not just skinny, but skinny. Compared to Karrin at least, who was slightly thicker than all the barbies that inhabited the city. But, appearances aren't everything, and after all it only needed moved a few feet, surely they could do it.
She had stopped to a slow walk a yard or two from her, and sighed loudly. "Uh hey.. Did you need help with something?" At the risk of sounding like some sort of creeper, she added "You won't have much luck asking for help in this city. ... But I'm sure you know that.... " She shrugged and glanced at the ground, preparing to shake off the ginger-themed comment that was surely coming her way.

Vinyl glanced up from where she had been looking, hearing rapidly approaching footsteps. First thing she took note of was the womans hair. It was red, and not just any red, it was a HEY-LOOK-AT-ME-HERE-I-AM red. She let out a light chuckle. It was something she'd seen quite often at the club, but it was still interesting to see elsewhere. "Your hair..." She paused for a few moments, thinking of how to put the next line. "I love the color. It's so... Bright." she muttered, almost as if she were talking to herself.
She realized she was staring for a moment, the fading grin from the chuckle still on her face. She shook her head lightly, and looked at the woman from behind her purple sunglasses. "Uh, nawh. I just got caught up in thought and wanted to know where I was." She said with a slight smile. "Still can't believe I walked here from Brooklyn..." She muttered under her breath before looking in the direction the woman had come from, and the car that was still sticking out of the parking space.
"But I presume you weren't asking for my sake. You need a hand with your car?" She asked, letting out another chuckle. "I'm probably not the one to ask, not the strongest person around, but I'll help however I can." She said, hopping up quickly and extending a hand. "Vinyl Scratch." She introduced herself, the wide grin still on her face.

"Yea?" Karrin smiled absentmindedly, Most people just thought the color was a cry for attention, then again this girl obviously shared the same tastes as far as outrageous hair went. "Yours is neat too, we're like opposites though." Only in the hair region, whereas the rest of Rin's getup was as bland as bland gets, this lady looked like she was headed to a club.
"Brooklyn?" She made a face and gave Vinyl a once-over, No wonder she was a twig. Good God, I can't even walk from my front door to my car without having to sit down..." She cleared her throat, she should stop responding like she was, being a professional mutterer herself, she knew when someone was and wasn't talking to her. "Anyway, uh. Yea, I just need someone to shove it forward. It's not so much about finding someone capable as it is about finding someone willing to donate a little time and effort." Karrin smiled warmly. "Karrin Miller. My friends call me Rin. Is that your real name? It's kinda funky... er, in a good way I mean." And she did mean it, it was a better nickname than Rin, It actually sounded cool. No surprise though, This chick was the embodiment of the word.

Vinyl nodded, smiling slightly. "Yeah... I didn't like the natural black hair color, looked waaaaay too much like Tavi like that..." She said with a grin. "Not that I don't love my sis, but hey, I gotta be my own person." She said, looking like she was going to say some more, but decided against it.
She paused, looking toward the girl again when she showed surprise at where she had come from. "Uh, yeah. Not intentionally. Just got lost in the music... It happens sometimes," Vinyl said with a chuckle, pulling an ipod out of her pocket and pausing it. "But now that I'm aware that I have to walk so far... It's going to be hell..."
She looked toward the car again. "Sure... Why not, I'm not doing anything important. Let's get that Car out of peoples way!" She said sounding almost too happy about the job at hand. She let out a chuckle at Karrins question about her name. "Nawh, Rin. My real name is Victoria Strider. But it doesn't flow as easily at the club as Vinyl Scratch does." She said with a wink, even though the woman wouldn't be able to see the display behind her glasses.

Karrin couldn't help but grin. It was odd to find someone so easy to talk to. In this case it had nothing to do with the city, being as socially retarded as she was, it was rare to find anyone anywhere that wasn't immediately creeped out my her strange antics. "Believe it or not I'm a blonde." She turned and started heading back toward the crapmobile. " Had to get myself out of that stereotype as fast as possible. I don't even remember what I look like with my natural color."
She was dead on, Vinyl was a club go-er. Not that it was hard to tell. and she was a music lover, which meant she probably like the club music, and depending on what kind of club it was, they may have another thing in common. "I'd love to give you a ride but.." She motioned to the car and rolled her eyes. "Ya know.." After a few seconds of silence and deep thought, she made a decision that normally didn't even make it to the consideration category. "My apartments only a mile's walk from here, maybe, I'm not sure how good I am with distances. But I know it's a hell of a lot closer than anything in Brooklyn. It still leaves the problem of getting you back, but it's better than the alternative." She turned and walked backwards to register Vinyl's reaction better. "I mean, only if you're comfortable with that. If it'd be awkward or anything feel free to tell me to get lost."
She bumped into her ride and whirled back around. It was a miracle she didn't do something incredibly clumsy and stupid, walking backward like that. She slapped the roof of the trunk a few times and scooted up to the drivers side door. Leaving Vinyl on the back end seemed kind of rude, but hey, someone had to steer. "Ready?"

Vinyl nodded, chuckling lightly. She shot the woman a sly grin "You wanted to escape a stereotype so you went from blonde to ginger?" She shook her head lightly."Not quite escaping a whole lot, are ya?"
Vinyl nodded as the woman got into her vehicle to steer while Vinyl pushed. She sighed slightly and placed her hands on the back of the vehicle and started pushing. It wasn't moving at first, but after a few agonizing moments, it finally shifted, and slowly wheeled its way forward. After a few moments she stopped, the car finally fully into the spot.
"Well. Not how I expected to spend my day. But hey, it works." She said with a shrug. She contemplated Karrins offer, "Well. I have no clue." She admitted, letting out a light laugh. "Zane and Tavi may send out a search party, but I could hang for a while." She joked, looking toward the woman. "I'll just call a cab to get back later." She shrugged. Part of her didn't want to spend that much money to get back, another part was telling her 'you walked this far, you can walk back'.
Vinyl spun, sitting on the back of the car, and pulled her phone from her pocket, and fidgeting with it for a brief moment. She typed out a quick message, and sent it on its way, before sliding the phone back into her pocket and looking toward the woman. "So. Queens." She started, looking around. There wasn't much around, and as her head finally came back to look at Rin, She let out another chuckle. "What is there to do for fun?"

She sighed happily and executed a single victory clap. Thanks to the blue haired stranger, this mission took far less time than previously expected. "Well, you have to understand my strange form of logic. When I was making the decision of which hairdye to get, I was 12. In the tiny town I grew up in I didn't know any redheads, therefore the whole 'ginger' concept was unknown to lil ol' me." After putting it back to park, she made her way back around to the back of the car and hopped up to seat herself on the back. "As was the barbaric nature of the human race. You know, Naive little kids think the whole world is like it is on the children shows where everyone is just nice as can be. And I've always been uniqe, so I chose a color that no one else would have. And my reasoning now is that I'd rather have no soul than no brain. " she smiled. "Pardon my cliche-ness, but I am who I am."
Not really knowing how to respond to the cab calling statement, she just nodded, and then crunched her face up as she tried to think of interesting things to do. "Honestly, probably a lot depending on what one is into. But I don't get out much. My life revolves around online video games and trash-talking people whom, if I ever met in person, would probably destroy me." She pondered for a few more seconds. "If I remember correctly, There's an abandoned warehouse somewhere around here that's claimed to be haunted...

Vinyl thought for a few moments. The sky was darkening. Either she would take a cab, or sit around here somewhere for the night. She let out a slight chuckle, thinking about it. After a few moments, she looked over to the woman again, and realized that she had been laughing, and not fully listening to what she was saying. Vinyls head shot over, looking toward the woman as if she was making up for lost attention.
She nodded, thinking over the options for a few moments. "Well. I haven't gone to a haunted house in ages." She said with a chuckle, looking down for a moment. "And I haven't been in an abandoned warehouse since..." She paused, a frown crossing her face as she thought back. After a few moments, she cleared her throat and hopped up. "Well, lets go!"
Vinyl started walking, a happy hop in her step as she walked. She got a few feet and paused, realizing that she didn't know where the hell she was going. She turned, looking back at the woman with a grin. "Uhh... Maybe you should lead the way." She said with a lighthearted chuckle.

"Since never?" She laughed, oblivious. "Unless there's an excess of them over then in Brooklyn-town."
She hopped off the trunk and sauntered up to and then ahead of Vinyl. She only really had a vague idea of where she was going, but hey, couldn't be that hard to find. Since they were on foot, she had time to google it. "Ghost busters, for realz."
((Wooo timeskip omgyay!))
By the time the two made it to the warehouse and managed to find the 'secret' enormous hole cut in the fence most likely made from bored, drunken teenagers with nothing better to do than vandalize, the sun had said it's goodnights and the moon was high and bright. And in the part of the neighborhood they were in, it was the only light. Karrin was beginning to regret this decision.
"I hope this doesn't turn out to be some gang hideout." She laughed nervously. "I don't happen to have my machine gun on me. The one time I leave it at home, damn." She forced a pathetic chuckle, mentally kicking herself for making her discomfort so obvious.
She cleared her throat, 'Anyway.. I'm sure there's a way in nearby. They wouldn't put it too far from the entrance, I wouldn't think." She sure as shellfish hoped not. Stumbling around in the shadow of a building inhabited by dead people wasn't exactly her idea of a good time.

Vinyl looked at the building for a few moments. "You're right. This place is kinda abandoned." Vinyl said, stating the obvious. She looked over to her new friend with the bright red hair and chuckled slightly at her comment. "Yeah, because a gang would be using somewhere haunted as their base of operations. Ghosts are scary." She said with a grin, looking toward the entrance they were about to take.
She thought for a moment, looking to the woman with a serious look. "You know. I've seen a couple ghosts before." She said with an almost stoic face. "They were trying to talk to me. Not sure what they were saying though... Tried to tell my sister, but she thought I was just high again." Vinyl muttered, shaking her head with a sigh. "Whelp, we should get in there. It's now or never!" She said with a grin and pushing her way through the broken part of the fence and heading swiftly up to the door.
She pushed the door with a bit of force, the second time today she had to exert strength to push something... The door let out a protesting groan as it slid open, scraping the floor, letting out a painful screech. Vinyl shuddered slightly, shaking the ringing out of her ears. "Whelp. That could be why it's haunted. That was loud enough to wake the dead." She said with a grin, looking around. "My Sunglasses... make it hard to see." She said, her voice sounding as if she had just come to this realization in the last few moments. As she shifted, she kicked something that made a metallic rolling noise. Reaching down, she grabbed whatever the thing was. "Hey, Flashlight... Deus Ex Machina, much?" She said, turning the thing on and lighting their way.

Karrin suddenly made the decision that she liked this girl. Her responses were never really what she expected. It was refreshing.
"Well, you never know.. They could have started that rumor to keep people away.." Her voice automatically lowered just above a whisper as they came upon the building. The mention of talking to ghosts gave her goosebumps, well, not so much the topic, but more the expression that flashed across the bluenette's face. Once again, Rin had no clue how to respond. She didn't really believe in supernatural things, but she didn't not believe in them either. If she went around gloating about her lack of fear, and they did turn out to be real, she might as well stick a target to her back. Nope, Karrin was most certainly lacking in the 'nerves of steel' department. And, almost intentionally it seemed, as she was distracted trying to calm said nerves, the horrible noise emitted from the opening of the door nearly made her jump out of her skin. And the convenient finding of the flashlight only knotted her intestines more. She stared at it for a moment, "That's just straight up spooky.." before looking up ahead at the bowels of the building.
Apparently they had come in through the loading dock, there was a steep ledge ahead of them, about 4 foot tall it looked like, with a conveyor belt that wound off into the darkness. The underside absolutely riddled with spider webs of all shapes and sizes. Something scuffled off over to the right, and Karrins stomach churned. The silhouettes of broken down old industrial-grade machines loomed up ahead on either side of the conveyor, with robotic arms arcing out ominously across it. She gulped audibly. "This looks more like a factory than just a plain old warehouse..."
There was a small wooden step-ladder sitting against the concrete wall of the raised floor. It didn't at all look safe, and at the risk of it causing bodily harm to herself, she climbed rather ungracefully to the upper floor without its aid. Waiting for Vinyl to follow and light the way.

Vinyl moved the light around the room they had entered, almost marvelling at the architecture. As she moved slowly through the building. She let out a loudly audible "EEP!", hopping backward fearfully. She stopped for a moment, allowing her nerves to calm down.
After a couple seconds of silence she let out a light chuckle, glad she was the one with the flashlight so Rin couldn't see that Vinyls cheeks have become the same color as Rins hair due to her embarassment. "Sorry about that... spiders scare the hell out of me.... and I saw one move.", she said with a chuckle before following Rin up the ladder swiftly.
As she walked down a nearby corridor, pretty wide (for moving boxes through?). She peered into the rooms carefully, boxes stacked haphazardly all about. As Vinyl continued up the hallway, stumbling slightly, the flashlight falling as she fell against the wall for a moment before looking back toward Rin, pulling off her sunglasses and looking at her. "Did you feel that? Something happened.... I'm suddenly tired...", as if to punctuate her point, she let out a light yawn and chuckled as her stomach growled loudly. "And hungry, but that's pretty common for me anyway..."

Karrin didn't even respond. Instead she was standing in place, swaying like a drunk. She suddenly felt as if keeping her eyes open were the hardest thing in the world, as if she were fighting the impossible. This is a girl who'd once stayed up for 34 hours straight, and suddenly all she could think about was finding somewhere to lay down. It didn't even have to be comfortable, but the spiders and possible rat infestation kept her from dropping to the floor right there and then. It would take quite a force to get her to sleep in this place.
"Whuh?" She said dreamily. Shortly after Vinyl's, Rin's stomach let out a low gurgle as well. She put her hand over her gut, as if that would silence it. "What's going on?"
